The Great Glass Pumpkin Patch®

The week of September 24th, The Great Glass Pumpkin Patch®, a beloved Bay Area autumn event for all ages, returned to Palo Alto for a week of a glass art exhibition with educational tours and flameworking demonstrations culminating in an extremely successful sale of the pumpkins starting with a members only Candlelight preview sale and party hosted by the Palo Alto Art Center’s Foundation and then the public sale on the weekend of the 29th and 30th. Over 5,000 pumpkins found new homes over the course of the weekend.

Celebrating its 17th anniversary, it is the largest glass pumpkin patch in California–this year featuring over 10,000 hand-blown glass pumpkins crafted by 29 prominent glass artisans. People wandered through a dazzling array of one-of-a kind glass pumpkins and other unique glass art objects designed to reflect nature’s brilliance in a variety of colors, shapes and sizes. The pumpkin patch supports the missions of The Bay Area Glass Institute, Palo Alto Art Center and the Palo Art Center Foundation and the beliefs of the participating artists, by making glass art available to all, supporting art education programs and providing a setting for local artists to expand their community outreach.
